Happy Birthday Dave and other thoughts...

Yesterday was my dear husbands birthday! He was feeling very old and I told him that he is distinguished and that makes me the young trophy wife, right? Well, I guess we are both just getting older together! At least it is a fun journey.
So we kind of celebrated on Monday because of the holiday and he just relaxed most of the day, and watched the kids so I could go to lunch and a movie. I am not sure if that was a birthday gift to him or me! So yesterday, Luke and Kira and I took Dave out to lunch at the Training Table. Which was very mice because I have been craving that place for a long time! The kids love to visit daddy at work too. I marinated steaks all day and then Dave BBQ them for dinner. How nice of him to cook on his own birthday huh? I set the table all nice and we had a bottle of sparkling cider and I let everyone drink out of a goblet but Kira. I think that was the best thing of all for the kids was drinking out of those glasses. Luke came down and saw the table and was like blown away that I made it look nice, I guess we aren't too formal around here! So it was a nice way to celebrate Dave. The kids made him cards and then he got to relax while I cleaned up and bathed the kids and proceeded to have a breakdown and put all the kids to bed early (I was a very tired mom last night)! After that it was peaceful and we had a nice night. I am so grateful for Dave, what a great man he is! He works so hard to provide for us and is so good to the kids and to me. I am glad to have celebrated another his birthdays.

Kira was very excited about dinner!

Toasting Daddy on his birthday!

Dave cooking his steaks in the snow and cold on his birthday, what a way to celebrate! They were sure good though.

So this morning as I was getting Kira dressed in yet another pretty dress. She has to wear a "pitty dress" everyday and some days the leggings don't quite match, but oh well. Anyway, she kept telling me " Kira pretty" and just twirling and dancing in her dress. It just made me so grateful to be a mom and to enjoy these moments. It is too bad that we don't keep that spirit that little ones have. I wish I thought that I was pretty everyday and would dance and twirl in my pretty dress and be perfectly happy with my life. What a great example these kids are to me. I think that is one reason that we have kids. As my mom always says, "I love my kidders!"
