Happy Birthday Dave and other thoughts...

Yesterday was my dear husbands birthday! He was feeling very old and I told him that he is distinguished and that makes me the young trophy wife, right? Well, I guess we are both just getting older together! At least it is a fun journey.
So we kind of celebrated on Monday because of the holiday and he just relaxed most of the day, and watched the kids so I could go to lunch and a movie. I am not sure if that was a birthday gift to him or me! So yesterday, Luke and Kira and I took Dave out to lunch at the Training Table. Which was very mice because I have been craving that place for a long time! The kids love to visit daddy at work too. I marinated steaks all day and then Dave BBQ them for dinner. How nice of him to cook on his own birthday huh? I set the table all nice and we had a bottle of sparkling cider and I let everyone drink out of a goblet but Kira. I think that was the best thing of all for the kids was drinking out of those glasses. Luke came down and saw the table and was like blown away that I made it look nice, I guess we aren't too formal around here! So it was a nice way to celebrate Dave. The kids made him cards and then he got to relax while I cleaned up and bathed the kids and proceeded to have a breakdown and put all the kids to bed early (I was a very tired mom last night)! After that it was peaceful and we had a nice night. I am so grateful for Dave, what a great man he is! He works so hard to provide for us and is so good to the kids and to me. I am glad to have celebrated another his birthdays.

Kira was very excited about dinner!

Toasting Daddy on his birthday!

Dave cooking his steaks in the snow and cold on his birthday, what a way to celebrate! They were sure good though.

So this morning as I was getting Kira dressed in yet another pretty dress. She has to wear a "pitty dress" everyday and some days the leggings don't quite match, but oh well. Anyway, she kept telling me " Kira pretty" and just twirling and dancing in her dress. It just made me so grateful to be a mom and to enjoy these moments. It is too bad that we don't keep that spirit that little ones have. I wish I thought that I was pretty everyday and would dance and twirl in my pretty dress and be perfectly happy with my life. What a great example these kids are to me. I think that is one reason that we have kids. As my mom always says, "I love my kidders!"

Fire station and Valentines day!

I am deciding to take a few minutes to write because I have a little peace and quite after a crazy morning! We watch some kids today and it was fun for my kids to have friends to play with all morning and now Luke is off at a friends house and Kira is supposed to be taking a nap. I am not sure how many more naps I can squeeze out of her!
Last week for preschool, we went on a field trip to the fire station. It is the same one that we went to last year and Luke remembered a lot of it. It was a lot of fun to watch the video and see the kids with the big trucks and of course they got a fire hat. Kira would not put hers on at first. She screamed at me when I tried but then she saw all the other kids with them on and she wouldn't take it off! Finicky little thing!
Kira with her fire hat! It was a very windy day and she was holding on to that hat for dear life!
Look at my handsome boy!

Luke and his class with the two fire fighters in front of the truck. They had such a great time!

On Valentines day, me and the kids went to help in Jenna's class for her party.( She had made a kitty box to put her valentines in) The kids loved going to Jenna's "dool" that is Kiraese for school. I was in charge of the party, big surprise because I am the biggest sucker! No, it was fun to do it and we had a great time. I helped with the game. We gave each kid a bunch of candy hearts and we had contests to see who could build the tallest tower, or biggest, etc. all of the groups had such a great time except for one. With that group we ended up playing BINGO. They had Papa Murphy's pizza and decorated cookies and colored pages. Jenna's teacher was so nice to let Kira and Luke join in too.
As for celebrating Valentines day, we had to cancel our plans that weekend for Dave and I to go out because of all the sick kids! So on Monday we just had a regular night. I did give the kids a little present too. The kids were also very excited to get their own mail from Grandma Cham and Papa Woody too. Of course, I have to mention that Dave got me beautiful purple roses, which I love! Valentines is great, but I love just showing my love all year!

One Crazy Month!

So my goal of updating once a week has already come and gone. The year started out on a great note and I was totally up to date with my blog, but then life happens and the blog isn't the most important. So I started out the year, being pregnant, Yea! At six weeks, I started spotting and believed that I was having a miscarriage. We were sad,but started moving on. Plus with my parents getting ready to leave on their mission, life was stressful enough. My parents gave wonderful "farewell" talks all about the Mormon Battalion members and faith. They are going to be wonderful missionaries! So the week proceeded with me helping my parents and spend all the time that I could with them before they left. Earlier in the week, I had my HCG levels tested and they were low, but they were not dropping like they should. I was not concerned because I didn't know what that meant. That Friday night I started having the most uncomfortable pain, It kept me up all night and figured that it was kidney stones, or something like that. Well, after a visit to instacare and then the ER. My pain was narrowed down to a cyst or an Ectopic pregnancy. So I spent the next few days in bed on painkillers. Luckily my husband is so wonderful and took great care of me and the kids. After the weekend my levels were tested again and the doctors told me that it was in fact an Ectopic pregnancy. After all the emotions that I had already felt with losing the baby, this was a little more than I could take. Plus my parents were gone to the MTC and I couldn't have my mom to help me. Although they called me everyday to see how I was. So I took the medicine Methatrexate in a liquid form(the equivalent of 38 pills). The next two days were filled with pain and feeling sick, as I was "cleared out". But hey, I think I lost a few lbs. After a week of straight pain, I finally felt that I could stand up without feeling that I was going to pass out. I was finally getting better. I took my last blood test today, just to make sure that all is normal. As we were at the clinic I saw several people pregnant and a woman carrying a baby and I got sad. With all that happened it was hard to deal with the loss, I mostly had to deal with the pain. I know that all will be good, now if I have another baby, my parents should be home in time. I am still very lucky that I have my three beautiful kids!
So after those few weeks, I was also dreading that was I turning 30! I just always thought it was so weird for me to be 30. But now that I am here, I am very grateful to be here and I feel as though I have done much with the last ten years and I guess I should be 30. I am finally catching up to everyone else. So for my birthday, Dave is not a big planner. But he planned me the biggest surprise party! I could not believe how packed my house was. I wasn't sure I really have that many friends! It was just incredible all the work that Dave and Kim went through to plan it for me. All the family was there and brought yummy food. I had some friends that I haven't seen for quite a while. I am a lucky girl! I am now 30 and life is good!
My parents have been in San Diego for just shy of a week now. I hear that they are doing great. My kids pray for them to be safe and to teach the gospel, in their prayers everyday. I miss them, but we will go visit soon. Kira doesn't quite understand and she wants to go see "nama" and woody whenever we talk about them. Its very cute.
On a very different note, I have been feeling very crafty and want to do projects lately. So I took out my quilt that I started oh, a year ago. Now I am almost finished with it. I laid it out on my bed and I got so excited! I am just working on the border now. Someday I will actually get to use it, hopefully before my parents come home!
Whew! That was a lot to talk about. until next time....

The funny things of Kira...

This is Kira playing with her little friend Chloe (or "Tloe"). We do a babysitting trade and the girls were playing at my house, playing dress-ups. It is so cute to see Kira playing with Chloe. I love to see how big she is getting. She is starting to play lots of pretend with Barbies and polly pockets and little people. She loves to play with her brother and sister and most of the time they enjoy it too. I love to listen to her in her room when she is playing, it is just so cute! She will just sing nonsense words in her sweet little voice, I love it!
So the other day she came running up to me holding her finger and whining. I thought that her finger was hurt so I opened my mouth to kiss it better and she shoves her finger in my mouth and I taste something so gross, I pull it out and it is a booger! I about threw up! Kira just laughed.
Today we were at my mom's house and I had just changed her diaper and I asked her to go put it in the garbage for me. She took the diaper and walked around with it and thought about where to put it. She got this look on her face of impishness and she walked over and put the diaper on the heater vent! She then walked away as if to say, "I did my job!". We had a very good laugh!
I love that Kira bug, she makes my days so fun!

Christmas continued...

So after our wonderful Christmas morning, we made our way to the Woodbury's for the rest of the day and more fun and festivities! We ate delicious appetizers and yumminess. (I like that word!) In fact the food was so good that it made Jane fall asleep while eating her roll. She could hardly contain herself! As usual there were too many presents, but very much appreciated and everyone is always very generous, creative and thoughtful with their gifts.

This is some for the kids with their "Captain Towels" (as named by Grace). Aunt Kirsten made each of these with a personalized touch on each one. Very cute!

As mentioned above, Jane fell asleep while eating her lunch!

My gift to my parents was a book that they could take on their mission of all the grand kids filled with advice and things that they will miss. As predicted it didn't take too long for either of them to cry. Well, it was very cute!

Aunt Kim got all the kids plates with their names on them. They love to eat on their name plates!
Well, after presents and food and playing games we headed home. It was a super fun day, I love Christmas, but it is ALWAYS nice when it is over! Dave and I realized later that day that we had forgotten to give another present to Kira and Luke! So that night they got a bonus gift, a pig pillow pet for Kira and a dog pillow pet for Luke. They were excited to have one like Jenna does. (she got one for her birthday). I feel so grateful for all the gifts that we were able to give and receive, we are so blessed!

Christmas morning #2

Christmas post #1

So here is the beginning of my Christmas posts. On Christmas Eve we spent a yummy brunch with my family. That was so fun to spend some of Christmas Eve with them since usually we don't get to see them on Christmas Eve. After brunch we took the kids home to rest up for the evenings events, however it was very unsuccessful for the resting as the kids were too excited to do anything but be crazy!
So one little note, my camera broke a few weeks before the holidays and so my wonderful brother lent me his. So I used his camera to take pictures on Christmas Eve. Unfortunately the battery ran out just as we were opening presents and there are no pictures of that night. I was of course freaking out because you can't have Christmas morning without pictures, right! That night at midnight Dave gave me the first gift of Christmas, a new camera! I think he was tired of hearing me freak out that we needed a camera! But it was very thoughtful and I love it!
So back to Christmas Eve, we spent the evening at Plowmans, as usual there is so much yummy food and six kinds of desserts. My mother in law makes the BEST desserts ever! Two words: Cherry Turnovers! After eating our big feast, we did the Nativity story. Every year those with parts dress up and Biz writes the script and we do the pageant. Kira was Mary and was a very cute one. Dave was Joseph. Luke was a shepherd and Jenna was an angel( she was so excited for weeks, because she had the perfect costume from her dance recital). It was a very nice production! We moved onto the opening of presents. You can imagine the chaos that followed. The rest of the night Jenna was so worried that Santa was going to miss us so we ended up leaving shortly after presents.

Welcome Christmas morning! The kids woke up about 8:00. Not too bad! The kids got everything that they wanted. They all are at such cute ages and were so excited. I think that it was so wonderful to see their face light up. It was just perfect!

This is Kira screaming "mine" when Jenna opened her Rapunzel styling head doll. She just didn't understand that it was Jenna's and not hers. It took several minutes and lots of distractions of all her new toys before she calmed down! I think that lack of sleep and excitement was too much for her little two year old self.

Snuggling with Daddy!

Santa brought the kids a Barbie and star wars lap tops. It only took Jenna one day to wear out the batteries in hers. It took me like half the day before I decided that the kids need headphones!
It was such a great Christmas morning! To be continued...
